Kramplik eristamine on kurjast, arvan.

Yule is also known as the Winter Solstice, Alban Arthan, Finn’s Day, Festival of Sol, Yuletide, Great Day of the Cauldron, and Festival of Growth. It is celebrated between December 20th and 22nd. The reason it varies from year to year is that it depends on when the Sun reaches the southern most point in its yearly cycle.
Symbols used to represent Yule are: evergreen trees, yule log, holly, eight-spoked wheel, wreaths, spinning wheels.
Foods in tune with Yule are: roasted turkey, caraway rolls, mulled wine, dried fruit, eggnog, pork, beans, gingerbread people.
The plants & herbs associated with Yule are: holly, mistletoe, evergreens, poinsettia, tropical flowers, bay, pine, ginger, myrrh, valerian.
For Yule incense and oil you can use any of the following scents, either blended together or alone: rosemary, myrrh, nutmeg, saffron, cedar/pine, wintergreen, ginger, bayberry.
Colors associated with Yule are: red, green, white, gold.
Stones associated with Yule are: bloodstone, ruby, garnet, cat’s eye.
Animals and mythical beasts associated with Yule are: stags, squirrels, wren/robin, phoenix, trolls, memecolion.
Appropriate Yule Goddesses are all Spinning Goddesses. Some Yule Goddesses are: Angerona (Roman), Eve (Hebraic), Pandora (Greek), Zvezda (Slavic), Metzli (Aztec), Yachimato-Hime (Japanese), Tiamat (Babylonian), NuKua (Chinese)
Appropriate Yule Gods are all Re-Born Sun Gods. Some Yule Gods are: Apollo (Greco-Roman), Balder (Norse), Oak/Holly King (Anglo-Celtic), Ra (Egyptian), Saturn (Roma), Jesus (Christian-Gnositc), Helios (Greek), Ukko (Finnish-Yugoritic).
Altar decorations can consist of: mistletoe, holly, small Yule long, strings of colored lights, Yule/Christmas cards, a candle in the shape of Kris Kringle, homemade wreath, presents wrapped in colorful paper.
Traditional activities during Yule consist of: decorating the Yule tree, exchanging gifts, storytelling, making wreaths, throwing holiday parties, sending greetings
Taboos on Yule are: extingishing fire, traveling.
Spellwork can be for: divination, a healthier plant, peace, joy.

Yule means “feast”.
Or maybe"wheel".
According to one theory, the root word for Yule came from the aboriginal Scandinavians, and has always meant only one thing: the festival at the Winter Solstice. The word for wheel came from the Indo-Europeans who migrated to Scandinavia around 3800 BC (although they didn’t even begin to use wheels until about 2500 BC!) The debate points out how ancient the word is

v.l., 2005-12-23 17:00:45

One of the oldest customs is that of the Yule Log. A log of wood, usually Ash or Oak, is brought into the house. Carvings are placed on it to bring protection and luck to the house and every family member is allowed to make a wish upon it. The log is then placed on the hearth where it is to burn for no less than twelve hours and preferably until dawn. It’s ashes and rekindling pieces are saved to place about the house or to be made into pendants for protection though out the year. This custom seems to date back to through the Roman Saturnalia and possibly even to ancient Egypt. This was well before the spread of Christianity although Christians have claimed that Martin Luther or Saint Benefice started the custom.
...
The earliest known burning of a Yule-style log was in ancient Egypt in about 5000 BC to honor Horus, their sun god. The Sumerians had a similar ritual.

v.l., 2005-12-23 17:07:20

That Yule is another fire festival, should come as no surprise, however unlike the more public outdoor festival of the summer solstice, Yule lends itself to a more private and domestic celebration. Yet like its midsummer counterpart, is strongly associated with fertility and the continuation of life. Here the Goddess is in her dark aspect, as ‘She Who Cuts The Thread’ or ‘Our Lady in Darkness’, calling back the Sun God. Yet, at the same time, she is in the process of giving birth to Son-Lover who will refertilise her and the earth, bringing back light and warmth to the world.
‘Iul’ meaning ‘wheel’
